Dr. Rafla-Yuan has published and written on health policy and public health, mental health services, 988 and psychiatric emergency services, health equity, medical education and workforce development, global health, psychosomatic medicine, and biomedical ethics.
He has been cited over 170 times in scientific publications and reports and he has been invited to speak at universities across the country such as UCSF, Columbia, and Duke. Notably, in 2024, the US Department of Health and Human Services referenced his work in setting new standards for youth mental health and education for 1,700 public and private agencies who provide services to more than 1 million children every year, covering every U.S. state and territory, farm worker camps, and more than 155 tribal communities.
